York is a particularly lively city with plenty of activities to offer and places to visits. These are our top ones, in order of preference...

National Railway Museum

Even if you're not into locomotives and steamy journeys, this spectacular museum will turn you into a train addict. Make sure you stop for tea at their café, as they have some of the best scones in town... oh, and there are carriage-like seats, what else would you want?!

Museum Gardens

Right in the heart of York you'll find the exquisite gardens surrounding the Yorkshire Museum, where you can explore the history of the city, through loads of interactive activities for everyone. In the summer we love having pic-nics in the gardens, while we try and spot as many squirrels as possible!

The minster

We could not leave The Minster out of this list, it would be like going to Rome and not visiting the Colosseum! We suggest you also climb up to the tower, as there are some breath-taking views of this magnificent City! (Not suitable if you are scared of heights).

York castle museum

The beautiful people at The York Castle Museum have recreated a whole Victorian street -Kirkgate- in the most authentic way, complete with sounds and smells from the Victorian age. Also, they have different exhibitions every time, so it's always worth a visit when out and about in York.

The city walls

One of York's peculiarities is certainly the walls all around it. You can climb the stepson walk along the walls where you will get amazing views of the City. It will take you about two hours for the whole tour, and after all that walking you can relax in one of the hundreds of pubs in town!
